Howdy, looking for cheap sound card to test some old hardware I have, M-Audiophile 2496 24/96 seems to be the best option but it has no headphone out I really will need that.

Can anyone recommend something that will do the job, so far I've only come up with the M-audio and creative sound blasters in that price range.

Needs to have a line in,headphone out and if possible ok latency, lot to ask for maybe for 50 notes.

If anyone is using the M-audio card is it possible to get a feed from it to hook up headphones?.

Any info suggestions will be much appreciated.

Good God, man. I can’t imagine any interface would weigh 50 pounds or more.

I just had a read up on the Edirol UA 25 seems pretty much perfect, can only find the Edirol UA 20 for under £50 that came out around 2003, saying that the UA 25 came out 2004 according to what I've read. I wonder if there's a big difference in the 2 models.

i was half kidding about the Audigy, but half not... there is one that has a headphone jack and 1/4 inch input. when i first started tinkering with music i plugged a giant Ross cabinet style mixer into it.

you have to look for that front plate (for a desktop tower), not just the model that goes into a PCI slot.

it has RCA inputs too. i used those to hookup a turntable and the 1/4 inch input for a mic... long time ago now.

if you were willing to spend more money i'd have a better suggestion but outside of a used/disposable M-auio Mbox or something i dunno.
