I'm completely geeked on this. Landing, or crashing is about 10;30pm PDT

Yeah man I almost forgot about this, thanks for the reminder.
What's the delay supposed to be, like around 7 1/2 minutes? Pretty impressive...

i think 7 1/2 mins is the time it'll take to do it's most wonderful landing. Mars is 14 minutes for radio signals, so that long to know.

High-stakes big-balls engineering at it's most extreme risk or payoff. The exploration ramifications are clear enough. F'ing awesome stuff.

What I was hoping for was color video of the landing and henceforth, so when it's up and running, yay:)

first pics....i actually follow this stuff because my brother, the smart and successful one of the litter, is a research professor at carnegie mellon univ. field robotics lab...they did some of the first testing with these internal motor wheels, and early mobility/imaging testing

One of the major "scientific instruments" on this mofo is a laser that can target and vaporize rock at a range of 9m.

Let's not mince words, that is a laser gun.

Don't believe the spectroscopy story, you know what it's really for. Space exploration, the way TV promised it would be.

Absolutely. The hi rez stuff should be showing itself in a few days i've read. Video too, for a first.

Here's the only piece of actual landing footage so far. It appears to be just after the heat-shield was ejected till touch down. Fast event to say the least.

What a load of shit.

All fake.

Just like the Moon Landing.

I mean, my fucking old 1st gen iPhone takes better video than that supposed footage, lol.

ffs.

Every shot I've seen of the Mars surface always looks like ass. ffs.

You'd think one of those NASA douchebags would stick a fucking decent camera from Best Buy onto the side of a Rover and rig a remote control push button assembly.

Same with video. ffs. They seem to all have the fucking quality of shitty VCR cameras from 1981.

:x

It’s surveillance footage of the Burning Man Playa a month before arrivals. :x

It has 17 cameras. They'll open them up one at a time nice and slow like. The black n white low rez photos are just monitors for the wheels. They're not official pics. There will also be 3d vid. Should be pretty convincing stuff
