but i only know basics i know how to read bass cleff really well but i may need work on treble cleff.

treble clef is just like bass clef just moved up the keyboard (this is reading music) but learning to play the piano is probably best done with a tutor.
seriously - get some lessons and if you have any aptitude for it you won't need that many.

I use to take piano when I was younger, and I was talking to my mom because she still takes them.
I asked her if I went back, would it be a bad idea.
Basically, what I should be asking you is. what do you want out of it? Do you want to compose, learn basics, learn songs, notes and key selection?
It's what you want, and who your teacher is.

i just wanna learn how to improvise and play melodies and stuff without drawing the notes in till it sounds good.

look - even Beethoven had teachers (several)
and to quote Isaac Newton (for the ignorant among you he was natural philosopher):

just get a human teacher - one that's alive, a person....
