Output/Recording to seperate soundcards.

Okay so here is the deal. I have been using a steinberg ci1 (very cheap sound-card). But I have been running it at 96 buffer for years without any latency issues or lag.

I recently bought a FastTrackPro as an interface to record vocals and acoustics and it is horrible - I have to run it at 1024 buffer or higher or it wont even play and even with a corrected driver latency I am still having massive delays between my midi keyboard & ableton.

So here is my questions is there a way I can have both soundcards plugged into my pc use one for output and use the other for recording - but in a way I dont have to go back and forth from both when I want to record/play back.

I have searched all of ableton and alot of google this morning to find absolutley no help. But I found something about making an ASIO4ALL driver that can control all 4 ins and 4 outs of each soundcard together as one.

Hey there,

I have two sounds cards that run together - kinda. Depends what you're using each one for.

I have a TASCAM interface/soundcard that I use for recording and playback with my monitors and headphones. The other one I use for editing (not mastering) as it's hooked up to a separate set of speakers that are a little more softer on the ears.

When I'm NOT using my TASCAM for output I can still designate my TASCAM for input. Whenever I want to change my output (speakers) I have to go in to settings and switch back and forth to/from either card (same for input.. I need to select my prefered I/O)

However, if I select my TASCAM for output I can not choose which card my input comes from; so that's where 'kinda' kicks in.

That being said, you're getting BSOD's which are something else entirely beyond me. I'd really recommend updating ALL your drivers. Then from there, if you know the latest card you introduced is the problem child for blue screens, then try rolling back drivers for that card. You might find one that works with your setup.

Hope that helps.
