Hi,

Has has anyone got links to a few different step sequencers I can try in Ableton 8 with my BCR2000?
What is everyone else using? Ideally I want something with similar functionality to the Doepfer MAQ 16/3.

Any help much appreciated!

Cheers.

And perhaps a template I can load onto my BCR2000 if you've got it? :)
Would be handy whilst I'm still getting to grips with it (which is my main priority now).

Cheers.

Had a look at some of the above step sequencers, but I really need one with at least 3 separate sequences that can be played simultaneously (but different step lengths so create evolving polyrhythmic sounds.

I also need something that can easily be mapped to my BCR2000 so I can edit the steps for each of these sequences on the fly.

Does anyone have anything like this? I've been searching and searching on google and I just can't find anything appropriate :(.

Any help much appreciated guys!

I don't think anyone's made anything specifically for that controller.

If you have some kind of step sequencer software that responds to MIDI notes for each step, you can remap the notes on your BCR to match that. I used to do this with Rebirth.

I imagine something like that Max4Live sequencer that got linked might work out, but you'll probably have to build yourself some kind of setup. Getting into Max or Pure Data or Reaktor might not be a bad idea, although those are deep rabbit holes!

As for a template, Live includes a basic control surface script for the BCR2000. It's device controls along the top, then 8 channels with two sends and track volume each. It's not a sequencer but it works pretty well for me as a control surface.

Hope this helps!

Hey.

There's a few designs out there using just racks and midi effects that people have shared for free.

I like the approach taken here - simple, each step is triggered by a MIDI note.

There's one from Covert Operators but I think the one above is a more elegant design.

Also have a look at the Track Team Audio Hybrid Sequencer - this actually goes a bit further. http://www.trackteamaudio.com/#

All of these are easy to map to a BCR as they are just based on standard Live Racks.

And er, if you need more than one just make as many MIDI tracks as you like and put a sequencer in it.

Sorry guys thought I'd replied to this.

I've been using the ML-185 sequencer and it's just what I'm after although I still need to link it up to my BCR2000. Will be sure to check out the others posted in here.

Cheers :).

thought i'd chime in on this thread. Having just picked up a bcr2000 !
F*kin alright.

I'm using the ML-185 sequencer as well. Custom mapped to my bcr.
There are some pretty cool ol'skool style sequencers like the ml185 in the ni reaktor world.
if you have that. i really appreciate having the analog style.
