Mixing on Headphones

Ya so I mix on headphones. I dont mix the 'right' way with monitors and a sound card and other extra crap. I just do 'phones. Currently I use Sennheiser 280 HD's and they are mixing headphones (flat eq, low and high freq range, yadda yadda yadda). But Im just asking, is there anyone else mixing on headphones? Is it wrong I'm mixing on headphones and not the monitors?

Thanks

i use headphones, just cheapo sony ones i got from the supermarket, i should probably get some proper ones, but im not "pro" and cheap headphones dont affect my enjoyment of making music. so i wont be doing that anytime soon.

no matter what you use while mixing you always need to test your mix on a range of systems.

I hear that open back headphones are much better for mixing than closed back. I have closed backs and they sound boxy and unatural, open backs sound more like speakers in a room (so i hear) which is why I intend to get a pair.

at least get it to a good mastering guy after you mix on the headphones..
might be some "acoustic" phasing issues on large systems...(in the air)
that you can't predict on headphones

it often sounds very different on headphones and speakers - sounds great on headphones and then you listen on the monitors and it's #rubbish

I use both out of necessity - sometimes I can't make any noise!

Even me too use both Headphone and Speaker. Both the equipment has its own advantage based Music.

I mix with monitors, and after that I check how terribly I messed up by listening to them on my cheap (say what you want, Sony's £9 in-ears are killer) in-ears. That way I can check how the rest of the world perceives my music through low-grade equipment.

Oh, and did I mention that I still can't mix? :x

I have Altec Lansing computer speakers that I mix on. Great sound and then I have Sony Studio headphones that I also use. when I get done I usually burn it on a blank disc and listen to it in my car (bose speakers) and then on my CDJs with the monitors.

Mixing I always use my computer speakers and headphones.

@3dot

What about mixing with studio headphones though? Like, Beats Studio or equal quality?

Beats studio surely aren't quality headphones for mixing...
