Does anyone know how to add vibrato to patches? In massive, there is a 'vibrato' knob. Is there anything like this in FM8?

I have always wondered the same thing, but I have never found a vibrato knob in FM8. I work around that by routing an LFO to the fundamental operator. It works for subtle vibrato effects, but it tends to warp the sound at higher LFO values. This actually sounds interesting sometimes. Give it a shot.

Cheers.

I actually had the same idea, to route and LFO to the operator...but it didn't give the result I wanted...Although, I did come up with a pretty cool riser effect! (sorry for the bad quality, but I didn't mix it and I exported at lowest setting to get smallest file size)

Yep. That is cool. I've come across some really strange sounds with FM8's LFO.

BTW.. You could try using a frequency shifter inserted after FM8. I don't really use it for vibrato but it might work.

vibrato in FM8,
LFO1 set to 15% send to Pitch.
the Mod value will allow your modulation wheel to increase that by 20%

the key scale on this image is a bit wrong, it will give you increasing vibrato as you go up the keyboard. Turn LFO1 key scale down to 0 for traditional constant vibrato. Likewise the vel scale, set to your taste.

Or just turn the "Vibrato" knob on the Easy/Morph page.

I feel cheapened even reading about such a page. This is FM synthesis, we do it ... the most difficult way we can!

;)
