Hi, i would like to buy a hardware synth, and i need some suggestions.
here's the points:

-multitimbral (from 2 to 16)
-knobs on the surface for editing sounds
-compact so a desktop synth is good
-on the market but also a nice used one
-only virtual analog hardware synths

I love my korg ms2000r and I think it matches your parameters. They can be picked up pretty cheap now on ebay

The MS2000 has 2 voices with split or dual modes.

So it's sort of multitimbral. You can definitely stack two sounds but not two patches.

I bought my Nord Rack 2 in 1998 and i still love it...! Its an amazing synth...!

If you have a Virus you don't need another VA, unless it's another Virus

The only one I would feel comfortable recommending is the Yamaha AN1x but it's not multitimbral.

Nord Lead 2 (if you find the 3 you are happy for ever), an MS2000, a Novation Nova (the supernova sound too much digital to me)!

But: why you don't consider a Prophet 08? It's a digital controlled analog synth, so you have the analog "phatness" and the digital integration (very good midi integration) and it's bi-timbral

Why do you need another digital synth if you have a Virus?

Oh, i would like to test another VA 'cause sometimes my Virus sounds a little bit digital. The filters on the Korg ms2000 are great and warmer, as the ones on the Yamaha AN1x.

The Prophet 08 advice is interesting 'cause there is no 'all in one' synth, even if i would. The price is high though...
So i think it's useful to have at least 2 synths for a good palette of sounds.

You really cannot go wrong with a Nord Lead. Nord have produced the best sounding VA synths IMO (I don't have a Lead, but have 2 modulars). Not a massive fan of the MS2000 - it is really good in the features department, but I'm not all that impressed with the way it sounds.

The virus is a digital synth, and it's not born to emulate a warm "ancient" imprecise sound, it's a very powerful sound designer tools, and it can be very powerful!

The question is, what woul you like to hear from your synth?

Right, it seems i'm on a iatus with my girlfriend, and she's my synth, maybe i forgot how much i love her

false needs to meet someone else? LOL

The Virus is very powerful, and it's digital, so why i wanted it to be someone else? Sometimes when mixing synths it's very hard to have a global color chord.

Maybe this can be solved with an analog compressor or another mixing milk...?
