I found this link to be the best solution to my latency problem in Ableton Live.

The article says that you can get overall latency 0 by adjusting the driver error compensation -> nonsense.

Very true, I'm still having latency issues, this article didn't help. When I first followed this article, it solved my latency issue, but the next time I opened up the session the latency was back. I'm still clueless as to how to fix this? Any suggestions? Tried downloading for asio4all but my mac didn't recognize the file.

what i`m wondering is that the guy who wrote that article looks pretty old? so it seems strange that with this age he writes such a nonsense! (no i don`t think that your age saves you from being stupid)

Since you brought my attention to it, he was 18 in 1991 so actually looks almost twice his age. Maybe he was exposed to some weird radiations or military experiments (starring at goats?). You must be stupid to join army in the first place (unless you are doing it for green card or alternative to jail sentence) but mentioning it in bio on the tutorial site for artists is being stupid twice.
Anyway Mr. Childs is definitely world champion in the most stupid Live tip ever.

Hi

You fix the issue by using a low latency audio interface. One that's designed for studio use.

ASIO4ALL is not required on Macs. It's for use with WDM drivers, which are PC. Even using it on a PC, it won't magically give you a low latency ASIO sound card.

It's just an emulator that sits on top of the standard Windows driver, to fool "ASIO only" software (which is rare these days) into working with a standard card.

I'm using a Komplete Audio 6 as my audio interface, so this is the source of my latency problem?

to answer the OP, to reduce latency, get a better computer/soundcard, i did, went for 12 ms I/O to 3,9 (64 sample buffer at 44.1)

agreed.

Driver Error Compensation is used to correct timing errors not to give you the lowest latency.

the only other thing that lowered my latency was switching from PC to Mac. it wasn't bad, the difference was only a few milliseconds so i'm not advocating running out and buying a new computer if you use Windows, but that suggestion in the article is far from the holy grail.

if there is a holy grail as it pertains to latency... i'd say it probably has an RME logo on it.

If it's all set up correctly then no, because it's a decent enough audio interface.

You'll need to provide a bit more information about your setup, how you're using it and a description of the problem in order for others to help.

I'm working with a 2.7g intel core i7 Macbook Pro with 16gig of RAM, currently have 100g available of 500g hard drive. Latency is set to 256 samples and used the technique presented in that tutorial posted earlier to reduce my overall latency to 0 (@-702 smp).

Is this video a better solution to latency in Ableton?

^ see if you can drop that 256 samples down to 192 without pops during playback. that should drop your latency in a meaningful way.
