Ableton decided to detune everything! Fixed, but ANNOYING!

I'm running Ableton Live 4.0.4 and one day at a rehersal everything was almost a whole step out of tune, but not quite. I'm not talking about audio loops, I'm speaking strictly of VSTI's being triggered by ANY MIDI controller hooked up to my PC. None of them would work in tune. Also, it affected the tuning of the notes being triggered to Reason via Rewire. I had to uninstall Ableton Live and delete the configuration folder from the "Documents and Settings, Application Data" are of the hard drive to fix the problem.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I can't think of anything I did to muck up a setting as there's not really a "global" detune function or setting that I could see.

At any rate, if it happens to you and your VSTI's (or Reason) slaved off of Ableton you'll know what to do.

Cheers.

What was your sample rate? Do you have Windows Sounds disabled? Assuming you're on a PC that is...

My sample rate was at 44.1. I do have all windows sounds disabled. So windows does not give me a big nasty windows chime in the middle of a performance. Yup, PC here running Windows XP SP2.

Has anyone else had this happen? Was this a known bug in 4.0.x?

I've just started noticing this... i usually use either VTSi's or record my acoustic guitar, but I've just started trying to do both - i couldn't work out whether my tuner was out or live. My harmonicas are also 'out'.

I overdubbed some MDA electric piano over my 'in tune' guitar and had to pitch it up by 10% to get it in tune.

i'm recording at 48/24 on an E-MU 0404 if that makes a difference.
