What do the gray lines after the track notes symbolize?

I've always assumed they are the trails of the actual MIDI notes, like if the sound has a reverb or delay.
But I haven't ever given it much thought.

tails from FX that have also been frozen. The midi content stops at the end of the clip, but FX on the channel such as Reverb or Delay have resulted in the sound continuing past the literal end of the clip; the program is smart enough to recognize this and freeze the material beyond the clip, too. Probably called "preserving the tail" in tech language, or something. Anyway, it's something to be happy about for sure!
