Fold Button in Drum Racks doesn't work?

Hi all,

I'm battling a bit with understanding Drum Racks.

According to the manual:

"An important feature of the MIDI Editor is the Fold button, located in the upper left corner. Activating this button will immediately hide all rows, or key tracks, that do not contain MIDI notes in any clips in the track."

When I create a blank midi part on my main 64-sample Drum Rack, with Fold turned on, and play one note, I still see all keys. Worse yet, it doesn't jump to the note. I'm stuck just seeing the same octave as before.

On the other hand, when I record the same one note with a track that has a Instrument Rack, I see just one key, the one on which that note was played. That's the kind of behaviour I need to happen for my setup.

Is there something I'm missing here?

thanks!
Matthew

I tried it just now. Works for me. You're looking at the MIDI piano roll display, right?

Thanks for the replies.

Funken: By "sample selector" do you mean switch through groups of samples within an Instrument Rack using Chain Selector? I only have Simpler so the Sampler route isn't an option.

I'm new to Ableton and was also wandering about this.

Would be nice if 'fold' worked the same with drum racks as it does with instrument tracks.

Maybe give an optional fold mode to only show used midi notes when using drum racks and not just all pads with sounds loaded. Fold with drum racks is almost useless when using large kits of up to 128 sounds.
