layered midi-editing

One thing I miss from logic is the possibility of choosing several midi-files and be able to edit the midi notes simultaneously (or at least see notes from other tracks while editing one track, and switch easily between tracks (seems bitwig will do this even better than logic). Especially with micro-editing this is cumbersome in the current version of live.

For composers in the genres contemporary classic, jazz and arrangers this is a must have. This is the first time I ask for a program feature in live.

This would be nice... But it should be like in Pro Tools or Sonar, where you can choose which channel you want to edit and which channels are just be visible but locked/saved not to be edited.

Also clip based layered editing and the possibility to decide which MIDI tracks I want so see or which I want to see AND edit!

Yes. Pretty much EXACTLY like that....

Yes an extra lock-column would be nice.

It is strange that ableton hasn't done anything with this yet. Must be hard to change up the programming. But it would be super worth it!

This would be a fantastic addition to Live... It is something which is SORELY missing in my opinion.

Every DAW from FL Studio to Cubase and Logic etc have this essential midi editing stuff.

Even the ability to see ghosted/greyed out notes from additionally selected clips within the clip you're working in, would assist immensely in visualising the established notes/harmony on other tracks. Streamlining new input with visual comparison and allowing educated creativity. Instead of keep having to jump between clips on different tracks to ensure scale / chord progressions match "correctly".

After all, isn't music generally based on harmony Ableton?

It's a little late for the August edition of this feature request. I wonder who will post it in September...

I'd like this too but I wonder if it's hard to reconcile with session view, and that's why it doesn't do it.

I think Ableton don't view live as a rival to PT or Logic, more as a rival to Maschine or MPC, and that's why they've developed things like Push before bothering with comping etc.

Not to say that I wouldn't like comping either. Or an event list.
