As someone who is definitely buying the Push for production uses, I really wanted to see if it could be worked into a live routine.

But after watching the videos and checking the tech specs, it looks like the Push's lack of hardware faders or space to do effects along with permanent EQ knobs, means it will replace my Launchpad in my live setup, and not my APC40.

What do you guys think?

I know we could map the touchstrip to the crossfader and maybe have it control one track fader at a time, but I really think that won't cut it as a standalone mixer.

For those of you planning to use it in a DJ environment, what controllers / mixers will you use it alongside?

If someone is just DJ'ing, and not producing, the APC40 is still a no-brainer IMO.

Push is definitely production orientated, but like you (and me) a lot of DJs are into production these days too.
Most Live DJs use 2 controllers anyway, pairing up an APC or Launchpad with something like a BCR/MPD or whatever.

So the APC40 trumps Push as a DJ controller on it's own, but Push is bus powered, which is awesome, and paired with another controller, you have more than enough for a DJ setup anyway.

I think it comes down to cash-flow, convenience and personal preference. If you could afford it, an APC40 for DJ'ing and Push in studio would be great, though that seems a bit wasteful.

I'm on a tight budget, and mostly production these days, so I will be going for Push in studio, and for DJ'ing I'll pair Push with my BCR2000.

Interesting take, your setup is definitely production geared.

Not sure I could DJ with a BCR2000 and Push alone, the lack of faders is a serious problem in my mind. But I absolutely love the APC40 in production, and I think it still works better than the Push, with regards to the LED rings on the APC that show where knobs from synths are at, etc.

I have a Traktor S4, but since everything is handled by my APC40 + Launchpad, the S4 is really just an expensive and oversized interface for me now (after I switched full time to Ableton from Traktor).
