Ableton Forum

For such a great plug... probably one of the worst interfaces I have ever dealt with in a program. Any alts out there?

Guitar Rig, Amplitube and Trash are all good alternatives. Personally I'm not a fan of Guitar Rig, and do like Trash, but it's down to personal opinion.

I agree with you on Ohmicide though, it's still a good plugin in my book.

Well I do have Guitar Rig and Amplitube, starting to buy actual pedals though for sound reasons.

I tried trash... its ok. Its just missing the ohmioomph.

That multiband feature they have is just too tasty. (Formant screamer )

Will never understand the hate for Ohmicide's GUI. If you like the sound, deal with it, or are you one of those people that wouldn't use a controller if the USB cable didn't match the decor of your room?

Hey, feng shui is important.

all of the ohm plugs look the same style, all uniformly Horrible to look at and with nonsensical UI's

OhmStudio is very nice to look at by contrast, and has some features i wish Live would catch on to

it does matter how things look

JUst don't get it, that's all.. then again I'm not in love with Ableton's built in plug in sameness etc. either.
I rather like Ohmicide's GUI, my only complaint about it is that they should be like Uh-He's stuff and be resizable.

An arse load of modulation

Very warm, mushy, Luke Vibert-esque sounding. Not as crazy as Ohmy.

Otherwise, iZotope and Audio Damage have their plugs. Audio Damage of course have gone the faux-affordable way, and have a poor feature set by comparison.

Its a love hate thing... keep in mind we are ableton nerds... and are used to "clean" and "utilitarian" interfaces.

Its got the most comprehensive set of algorithms I have seen... and its pretty useful near the end of a chain.

Im just buggered when I have to go to a manual too often.

Lol! Yeah, I come from the old school here, I have no issues with complex interfaces if they make sense once you learn them. Nothing else does the Melohman thing though, and I think that's a pretty cool trick for live use! IMO though it reads like you're more annoyed by the random features you don't need. Maybe take a look at amp simulators like Amplitube and Guitar Rig? total straightforward interfaces and good distortion and coloring etc.

I have those, they are nice but they miss that multi band feature... so useful for synth mangling.

I think the other part of my frustration just comes from the algorithms... I know they are based on circuits of days old... but christ a little description of how each one works would be nice.

AMP is ok, Amplitube seems to do the best as far as CPU. Guitar Rig... is decent enough.

But ohmicide can do things a bit more... subtle when needed.
