Keyboard controller with weighted keys

Hi

I am trying to find whether this exists in the market. A USB / MIDI keyboard controller with weighted keys. No on board sound is needed

I have the Edirol / Roland USB controller with like 5 Octaves but the action is horrible. I love the feel of weighted keys ...

I understand that Akai make a good keyboard with weighted keys but I don't need the synth capabilities.

Any advice? Thanks!

Hi

You should have a look at Fatar they do the best keys

Yeah I think that the fatar make the most realistic weighted keys in the market, and also the best Synth weighted key (Novation SL have those keys).

The akai MPK isn't the best key in the work but it's not so bad.

If you need only very good keys and a bunch of knobs and slider definitely consider this one:

i own two Studiologic (Fatar), one VMK-188+ at home and one VMK 161+ for live. It's really rock solid, i love the touch. It's USB powered too.

You could also look for an older, used MIDI controller - there were a number of pretty good-feeling 88-key weighted keyboards made that can still turn up on Craigslist or eBay:

Yamaha KX88 has a very good keyboard feel, Roland a-80 is okay, Peavey (believe it or not) made an excellent 88-key controller (can't remember the model name,) there were a number of others around in the 90's that, if you can unearth one, would make an excellent controller and probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
