Is it possible to make trap beats in Ableton? (808 kicks)
i want to be able to make all types of music using ableton and one thing i can not seem to get down is trap beats. check out the beginning of this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyKpWbcfCPc
does anyone know how to achieve that 808 kick sound? it seems like the easiest thing to do, but i have no idea how to do it in ableton. any help would be appreciated.

You tried either an 808 kick sample or Live's built-in 808 kick Operator preset if you have Operator, and a bit of saturation?

For the bass, try using one of the 808 kick or tom samples from Drum Machines. You can also work with the ones in the Operator 808 kit, as simonlb mentioned.
As to getting an extra-heavy kick, a trick here is to have a track that just plays a sub bass sine tone (really low, around 50-60 Hz), and have it gated by the kick (use the Gate device to sidechain this). Fiddle with the release on the gate until you get just the level of extra "boom" in the kick. Lastly, some overcompression on the kick, with a bit of Saturator and/or Dynamic Tube (to taste, but careful not to overdo either or you'll gut the depth).

Very possible I do trap beats & every other kind of beats in live. I use about 2-3 compressors.. Bring the release attack in til it distorts it a little but make sure it doesn't take away the bass from it. You should download boi1da official drum kit. Its free good to go to wavs...
