Live 9 pricing

Hi all,

I'm brand new in this forum (my first post) as I'm planning on buying Live 9. Some things are not clear to me and that's holding me back for making the wrong decision. I've been reading the 44 pages-topic about the price, but didn't find the answer, so :
  • - Live 9 is announced for €599,00 ... is this the boxed price ? (I guess, because it mentions 50GB of sounds)

    - Can someone tell me the price for upgrade 8->9 Suite BOXED version in $$$ as I can only see prices in €€€, but if I read in this forum, there seems to be a huge difference (much cheaper in $$$, even with exchange rates)

    - Boxed Live Suite 8 has got 40GB of sounds ... With the free upgrade, will the 10GB of extra sounds be included ?
Thanks in advance for helping me with this, probably simple, questions.

First: Live 9 and Live suite 9 content is the same for download and boxed versions, the only difference is a box and a manual.

So, no IMO buying live 8 suite box now is no cost effective, when live 9 is launched you will get all the content anyway.

A live 8 suite license is 524 and live standard is 337 USD.

From live 8 standard right now the upgrade to Suite 8 (which includes Live 9 Suite upgrade) costs 299 USD.

On the shop page:

Scroll to the very bottom and there are two select inputs. The second select input controls the currency.

Hmmm, The 3th difference for Live 8 Suite is that the download version only contains 3GB of sounds, while the boxed version contains 40GB of sounds, so I guess the same difference will occur in Live Suite 9.

This leaves my question though : for Live 9 Suite it seems to be even 50GB of sounds. So ... If I buy Live 8 Suite boxed I get 40GB of sounds, but what about the 50GB mentioned for Live 9 ?

So the question remains : If 9 arrives ... can I download the 10GB extra of sounds ? (40GB against 50GB)

@nek4life : woooow, didn't know that ... thanks for that tip ! Doesn't look cheaper in $$$ at all :) That's one question cleared.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding things but I was sucked in by the sales prices on offer online and in shops for Live 8 Suite whcih comes with the free upgrade to Live 9.

I can't quite remember what the cost of the Live 8 Suite + the upgrade to 9 (boxed or not) was directly from Ableton but I'm sure the unboxed version was something like 412 euros (£360ish) but I believed you were limited to the content until Live 9 was release for downloading the rest (possibly wrong there...) and you don't get a physical manual (which I value highly!). The boxed version with all content was about 525 euros (so about £450ish).

So I picked Live 8 Suite in a store instead for £379 (the standard price here in the UK) and have everything I need to play with just now and will have a good few months to learn as much as possible before the new Live 9 features and Max become available to download offering another chunk of stuff to play and tinker around with.

Seemed sensible enough to me and don't regret it at all.

Oh, and yes, from my understanding you'll be able to download the rest of the whatever you are signed up for once Live 9 is released.

Again: No, that is only true for suite 8, all suite 9 content will be avaible for boxed and download version.

The content is also different between 8 and 9: 8 brings EIC 2 (a small orchestral libary), while 9 has OIC (a big orchestral library).

Then live suite 9 has new libraries.
