Smooth to S&H CC modulation toggle switch
Smooth to S&H CC modulation toggle switch
Korg EA-1 and ER-1 sequencers had a really cool automation feature that quantize the incoming cc modulation to note on messages only (Sample and Hold CC modulation) and with one button press it morphs into continuous cc modulation and vice versa. This is especially handy for step sequenced melodies or basslines.
Re: Smooth to S&H CC modulation toggle switch
Not sure if this is exactly what you're talking about, but it would be GREAT to have some sort of continuous interpolation option for CC automation messages, since 127 values for many parameters is really too few and so you don't get a smooth curve when sweeping between them. Ableton could have a switch or option to interpolate a smooth curve when the number of steps in the target parameter exceed the CC resolution.

Korg Electribe A had a "MOdulation" part where you can tweak the cutoff for example with the pattern you arranged.
With Smooth CC mode enabled, you would get a smooth sweep. When Trigger Mode enabled, the CC values are Held at the point of NOte ON and OFF. Switching between the two sequence modulation types produced a unique effect of fast seqnces.
