Three things really bug me in Impuse.
1) Not being able to copy samples from one impulse slot to another.
2) Not being able to change the start and end points of samples
3) Midi controll data not being able to update in real time.
Anyone else agree/have any additions????

Agree with all. Plus have the ability to scan through samples within each drum "pad" like Reason's Redrum.

Agreed...and
choke groups.

The last 2 cells act as a choke group. Limited but it's there. Hit the "link" button while the 8th cell is highlighted and the last 2 slots become a choke group.

The big one is the cycling through samples. I can work around everything else, but not being able to audition samples quickly is stopping me using the impulse at all.
Tip (to show you really can work around anything):
To change start and end points, drop the sample into a track and loop a single beat so you can hear the sound repeating. Trim the clip to your requirements as it plays (hooray for live!), then consolidate it and drop it into the simpler.

I see you're saying about editing the samples on the arrange page and then consolidating, but that's kinda my point. It would be great if you could do the things I mentioned from within Impulse itself-it would definitely speed up the workflow and probably be incredibly easy for Ableton to program.
I do agree on cycling through samples though. Would be very helpfull to all the Reason users.

I love impulse, clear and simple to use, but my only gripe with it is that you cant reduse the length of the sample with a short note. Once it is triggered it will play to the end.
Say you want to create snare ghost hits and want to use the same sample, also the delay control I just don't think it is needed.

Have you tried the gate decay mode?

i would really like the ability to drag samples from impulse back into the session window.. that way you could edit, and drag 'em back in.
...and whilst we're on the idea of dragging audio files back and forth... how about being able to drag sounds from the arrange/session back into the file browser as a form of "exporting"?

That's a really good idea. Seems almost like an oversight on the part of the developers.

Yeah, but I mean full control. it wouldn't be hard for ableton to do.
But another guy suggested being able to drag sounds from the impulse back to the session page which would also solve my problem

I just wanted to re-iterate that I would like to see the ability to turn off self-choking. When I have 2 consecutive kicks, the second kick stops the first one before it finshes playing all the way to the end of the sample. That is self-choking.

Totally agree with you on all points.
A global filter would be nice too. Not necessary, but convenient. Maybe in Live 5 they will add that and have 16 cells rather than 8.
