It's absolutely the most mindblowingly cool instrument app I've ever used. The ability to fucking create your own beats via taping - or the cool dragging of instrument loops over to a jam window - or both at the same time - is fucking AWESOME.

It's a total blast and allows you to get amazing beat shit going in way that you flat out could not do on anything but the iPad. There's just no other control that could do this.

Oh, and I can also bang out MIDI beats into an Ableton clip and send that via network MIDI to DrumJam. I can then drag over the instruments - if I'm feeling lazy - and they start cranking out a beat that's IN SYNC BECAUSE THE APP SUPPORTS CLOCK SYNC.

Built-in filter with XY pad.
Easy to grab other FX.

can you make the beat you want with it or do you settle for what you are given?
from the video it looks like it comes up with random drum hits. the person didn't look like they had real control there.

i dont mean to give you shit, i know you get a lot of shit and naysayers for being on the cutting edge of ipad tech but, from the video it doesnt seem that this app offers as much control as say a real drum kit.

There's pads at the bottom to bang your own beats with quite a bit of control.

You can just play those, or the loops, or both.

There's no other app like it.

I ascertained from the name that it is a relative of ThumbJam which is another great app.

Android only has ToeJam and TrafficJam.

But yeah, the demo videos make it look like it’s only good if you want to write tracks that are an endless drum solo.

There's a lot of app demo videos out there in general that looks like the person spent zero time with app. Their very first thought and action was to make a video of them trying to figure it out.

Playability / latency / responsiveness with REAL playing would be interesting. Give some feedback on that!

The rest to me looks a bit like just another(semi)automatic tool for clowns who can't play. (which makes me puke!)

It's very playable, no noticeable latency. There's pitchbend, and when you swipe up or down on a pad you can get repeated hits depending on the time you set.

Awesome.

It's not an MPC. It's more of a supreme jamming performance tool.

I have seen Impactor. Cool.
