Question about Midi in Ableton + Guitar Rig

So I was on a never ending quest to link my fm8 (or massive, absynth, any synth) to guitar rig's envelope module with midi. Basically I wanted to trigger effects when i hit midi notes.
Let me set up the premise.
NI's guitar Rig has an envelope module which basically sets up a nifty ADSR which you can route to any parameter in Guitar rig. So you trigger the envelope and a tapestry of effects happen. Awesome! Now this envelope is triggered 2 waays. On "auto" mode, which uses the incoming audio. And also midi mode my learning midi to the trigger. First off, the audio mode effectively DOES NOT work. I already emailed NI on this issue and I'm still awaiting a response. It responds very sluggishly and if you hit two notes two quickly it does not retrigger. This is unacceptable for my purposes. However, when mapped to a midi note the trigger responds perfectly. Here lies the problem..
Ableton stops carrying midi once and instrument has been inserted in the signal change. So midi goes to fm8--->audio-->GTR rig.. No more midi to map.
So basically I have to use secondary midi tracks to re-route the midi. NOT the worst thing to have to do but I was wondering if there is a fix to this problem with out using multiple tracks and re-routing.
THANK YOU
