good point though. A lot of us have purchased the upgrade already. Q1 could be this week or March 30th. Anyone have any inside info on release date????

you have? Or are you referring to Buying Live 8 recently and having been promised Live 9?
Either way, when in doubt, assume worst-case so if it drops soon then you're pleasantly surprised

perhaps you would consider writing them a letter/e-mail along the lines of:
i thru dwn sum cheez fo yo sht n it aint git hur wer it be!!!1
i want dat sht right now so pass it to da left n gimme!
i no wer u iz n im jus sayin
i betta git wuz mine or i start sprayin!!!1
ableton support is usually acceptably quick in responding provided it's not a weekend or holiday.

I think they will ship the 64 bit version of L9 without MAX as there hasn't even been a hint of activity or beta testing for MAX 64 bit. I hope I am wrong, 64 bit M4L is my main driver to upgrade.

Many software is on preorder in online shops long time before it is released.
Slate Digital Virtual tape Machines was on preorder with some online retailers 6 months before it came out.
They can have software finished but they are not sure if or how many bugs are in it and how long that testing and fixing takes is unknown to anyone even the makers.
I don't think Live 9 public beta testing has even started yet. They say expect Live 9 in quarter 1 2013 but they may hit problems and move it to quarter 2. I don't think it will be later than June though.

Plus seeing how the beta is going on, you really don't want it to be delivered now.
