Hey,

I want to control my Tempest via Ableton Live. now here is my question:

I decided to use a "drumrack" in Ableton live with 16 "External Instruments" to trigger the different pads. But as soon as I use an "External Instrument (with the settings Midi to Tempest (via USB or Midi) - Sound from (Channel the Tempest is hooked on)) no sound is played at all. Actually no midi messages are send via "External Instruments".

So basically playing with an Midi Keyboard and sending Notes to the Tempest works just fine, but using an "External Instrument" sending the exact same Notes to the Tempest doesn't work at all.

Could you please help me out on this one?

I find it quite difficult to understand what you are trying to do. I use External Instruments very often and it works mostly just fine.

What do you exactly want to control on your Tempest by Ableton? Do you want to click for example with the mouse on a drum
within a drum rack of Ableton and the sound of a pad of your Tempest should be played by this?

External Instruments are there for Midi communication from int. to ext. and vice versa. If you want to hear sound coming from your Tempest
through Ableton you may make an audio channel for it. The External Instruments channel sends Midi data between Ableton and the Tempest. The
audio channel has to be set up to receive audio from the Tempest. I set these always on monitor in and the right audio ins of your interface
where the device is plugged in.

In Live also check your midi preference settings for Tempest.
You need to be sending and receiving.

I figured it out. I didn't route the drumrack correctly to the tempest (f.i. hitting C1 in Drumrack - play C3 on the Tempest...). works all fine now.

I´ve done it by myself, but I have note hangs with many sounds when triggering from external gear like push or a keyboard. No midi loop, ´cause the Tempest Midi out is closed in Ableton. Any help?
