Hello All.

Been off the scene for too many years after DJ'ing and producing beats in my bedroom. I blame my kids

Anyhoo, I'm now looking to get back on the scene and after getting to grips with ableton 7 for a few months, I have put together this promotional mix.

The second song "Upside Dan v1.3" was produced using ableton 7 also. Both the mix and the song are available for download.

Enjoy.

Or hate if you prefer!

Danny, Great stuff man.

Where do you collect your loops and samples?

Could you please explain what you mean by "off the scene" and "on the scene". I have a crawling feeling that I am "off the scene", and if this is the case, I'd also like to get "on it".

Thanks for the input MBR!

Regarding samples, for me it's very much like "crate bashing" that I used to do when using vinyl.

Me and a few pals used to make a regular day of it - bouncing round 2nd hand record stores in London, searching through crates, listening to records and discarding what we don't want. Very inefficient, but if you enjoy it, it isn't tiresome.

I try to do similar stuff for digital stuff. Set aside time, when the kids are in bed an the missus is watching crap reality TV. Sit with my headphones on listening to tonnes of samples.

Upside Dan I think was an 11 track recording, but to get the necessary samples (some of which were edited, particularly the acapella) I had to sift through about 8 gb of loops.

Do I detect a whiff of Swiss humour?

I've been assured by others that I'm not funny. Meanwhile, you should know your second link is dead :x
