For MIDI clips, the "Consolidate" menu command is available only in the Arrangement view.

I use it often to crop MIDI clips to just what's in the loop area. It gets rid of all notes outside the loop area, cleaning the clip up nicely, zooming to just the active content. It helps for extracting good material from a longer recording.

I'd love to have it available in the Session view too. (At the moment I copy the clip to arrangement, consolidate, copy back to session.)

The 'Crop Clip(s)' command does what you describe.

You're absolutely right. I hadn't noticed when they added it.
