Sex and Ableton Live

A musician friend of mine recently voiced his opinion that anything created solely by a computer is innately cold and lacking in emotion. I decided to prove him wrong by writing something people could fuck to using only Ableton Live (and a guitar; is that cheating?) Here is the result, I call it Shibari.

So who do you think won the argument? Constructive criticism is most welcome.

Cheers,

Vance

I watched the Robert moog documentary last night and they said the samething. Musicians said it was amazing because it brought a new sound to the table.

In my opinion all music is good, except trap.

Can you guys think of any 100% electronic tracks (no guitars lol) that are sensual? Window Licker by Aphex Twin comes to mind. It's also aggressive but then some people like it rough.

Multiple thousands. Start with chillout and electronic dub, then ambient, easy listening and so on. I also find some sneaky-smooth techno very sexy. House music of cource, like Motorbass and all the french filter house stuf. There is even sensual trance (rare, but there are a few djs that get it) like Sasha and so forth. Dubstep can be sensual and sexy, espesially some of the early smooth stuf, pre-skrillex aera. Sensual drum n bass from Goldie. Industrial are rough but can be sexy, maybe not sensual. Lot of house is sensual. To sensual for my liking. Personally I can find an exeptionally good production sexy or sensual, regarded I like the music.

Basically ALl EDM and Hip-Hop.

I've heard of people using shakers, and what not... but you can synth anything... all the VSTs in the world, and analogs.

Er, surely if you wrote it then it wasn't "created solely by a computer"? :P

Did he really mean by a computer, or on a computer?

Computer music in the hands of a musician is just another tool that can enhance music and take it to another level. It is cold, mechanical, and driving... but that's what makes it kick ass.

It's never going to replace real musicians... it's just different.

What makes a song "warm" and "emotional" is the melody and the groove.

You can't cheat that.

Clever way to get people to listen to your song. You had me at hello. The drums do sound a bit cold and computerized. You're not trying to hide it so I think it works.
