THIS IS A 2.5 YEAR OLD THREAD.
I THINK WE CAN CONSIDER THE ISSUE RESOLVED.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Celtic wrote:More jewish moaning, no wonder everybody hates them. If they want to talk about lies, why not talk about all the lies made up about the holocaust like 4 million dead at Auschwitz later changed to 1 million, soap made from jewish skin etc. All proven to be fabricated.
Whoa. I have a pretty high tolerance for tangential discussions on this board and I actually enjoy exchanging opinions with fellow musicians... but this use by Celtic of an obviously spoofed letter as an opportunity to spew forth a pile of revisionist crap... I don't know, I think it's a bit much. I mean, I know there are people like that out there, and there isn't much that can be done about it, but it's doubly upsetting to come to a board where one would enjoy sharing the enthusiasm for innovative musical software and the process of making something creative and good and see this. Maybe, just maybe, this does present a case for moderating the board. What do you think?

Listen, I was appaled as everyone else when I read that, but I don't think the answer is censorship through moderation. Shutting people up just because you don't like what they hear doesn't accomplish anything.

I understand that. And even the sorry lot of racists and revisionists have a right to speak their "opinions", I guess. I am not talking about "censorship", I just find the Ableton board to be really inappropriate for this sort of thing. This place has a purpose, and however broadly you define it, I doubt it would include this stuff.

Maybe he was being sarcastic?

The E.U. Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime, concerning the criminalization of acts of a racist and xenophobic nature committed through computer systems, ratified by 11 countries in November 2002, requires nation states to criminalize dissemination of racist and xenophobic comments or material on the internet.

The new European Arrest Warrant makes Xenophobia and Racism two of 32 offences for which citizens can be extradited to E.U. countries in which they are crimes.

Assuming Ableton has Celtic's IP address and user license detail, he may regret having made such stupid remarks.

The amount of furore on the forum about having received some spam email makes me wonder how stuck people are for entertainment.

I do think some moderation would keep this board more about music, Live and related subjects, with the occasional funny side-thread.

please, moderate, abe's

well, I was disgusted by that rude and tasteless remark also,

but if you Europeans think you can go throwing people in jail for their beliefs or thoughts, you can suck my fucking balls.

Especially if you think you can extradict americans for such, you are utterly batty.

I dont care what anyone believes, as long as they dont try to hurt anyone, or unfairly detain anyone.

Why cant people be satisfied with being more civilized than people as ignorant as celtic, rather than descending to their level by trying to strangle them?

We talk about all kinds of stuff on this board (anybody remember the election) so...political racial crap usually has about the shelf life of a good pop song - then people stop caring and life goes on

So what if someone says something racist or rude - who cares...its not influencing my decision to either

A) get reason 3.0 for the mastering suite

B) or get T-RAKS for the mastering

I need some juice and some racist isn't going to influence that decision -

I like Reason alot but with T-Racks i can use it with Pro-Tools and Ableton

I don't know - have you guys been to www.carlcox.com - yeah that'll put shit in perspective - the guys GLOBAL!

My Father is of Jewish descent. This shit is retarded. People are sometimes retarded. My girlfriend got her brand new Sentra stolen today. What a day.

As long as there are postive things out there, there is going to be some motherfucker looking to get busy. Take Cakewalk for example.

I'm glad we don't have moderaters right now. It demonstrates how civilized we are via the scum-fuck-to-civilized ratio. I don't object to the moderating so much either, but I have found on the OSX forums that the moderators sometimes overreact with an almost cultish response to negative feedback.

Diverse opinions make something strong. I for one am very happy that despite not even reading this asshole's thread, it has been immediately brought to my attention through a strong community.

This propaganda is very risque on a German product's message board. Someone is obvioulsy having a go with them.

Surprisingly, The Ableton Forums are very civilized without moderators and so far we have all been very good about it. We shouldn't moderate or censor, but I feel that when a comment like that is made, we should maybe try to urge a more positive and informative approach. Since we're not moderated though, we can't make any rules, we have to act on our own. This is just my 2 cents. Lets just be cool everybody, there is nothing wrong in being nice to people, it just makes you and the people around you feel better. :D

You say religion, I say fuckit. Stop creating wars over unseen god(s) :)

And racism shmacism. EVERY race is equally as guilty. Just be nice about it untill you drop the bombs or beat your neighbour with a baseball bat ;)

Anyway... lets get back to music. As always, the forum will moderate itself. A few arguments are fun to read sometimes.
