Slice To New MIDI Not Showing Up

I'm pretty new to Ableton. I've had it sense around November. I've learned almost everything I need to know. The thing that's missing is the Slice To New MIDI Track when I right click the audio clip. I really need help with this. I've turned warp on, unless there's something you have to enable in the preferences. I've tried everything I can think of. I'm starting to get frustrated. I really need Beat Slicing and Vocal Chopping. Is there something I have to enable in the preferences? I'm on Mac on Ableton Live 8, and have the full version.

You should just have to right-click the clip, slice to MIDI, set quantization and it should have created a new track with a bunch of clips in simplers. Otherwise, go to youtube and sarch for a video on doing it. There should be enough of them for Ableton there to point you in the right direction, also reading up on it in the manual could also help.

I've looked at the manual. It hasn't helped me. I've watched many tutorials on YouTube. Unfortunately, None of them helped my problem.

Yes, I have tried with loops. I have registered. I bought the software along with the APC40. I made my Ableton website account and registered the code. Do I have to sign in or something every time I open Ableton or something?

And by warping the track, do you mean placing warp markers? I've tried that already.

Warping is not something I can explain from scratch in one post. There are 2 options in Preferences, on for short loops and one for full tracks. Turn warping off for full tracks and on in Beats mode for short loops. Load up a loop and right click, and post a screenshot if you can.
I paid around $300 for it. Like I said before, it came with the APC40. I am running Live 8.3.4.

you say you've "turned warp on" but you never said that you warped the track you are trying to slice to MIDI. you don't have to get lost in warping it... but you will have to have a set begin and end warp marker.

this video helped me get my head around what you are trying to do a few years back:

You paid $300 for it PLUS the cost of the APC40? If so email [email protected], because something ain't right. You have loaded a loop and set preferences to warp it, so you should have a slice to new Mid track option.

Don't worry about learning how to warp properly with regards to this problem, it's irrelevant. Your loop will be warped automatically. You can easily check anyway, it will say so in the clip.

If your $300 included the APC40 and Live, I suspect you have bought Live Intro.
I don't think I bought the Live intro. But anyway, thank you for the help.

I'm on Mac
click on Live
About Live
when you have the application open. the resulting splash screen will tell you what version you have.

I did that. It says I have a full registered Live 8 and everything.

funken wrote:Here's another way of checking, how many tracks and scenes can you create? Intro is limited to 16 tracks and 8 scenes.
Yeah, it does limit me to 16 and 8. It does say I have APC edition. Does that make a difference?

funken wrote:Yeah, sorry to break the bad news, it's just the Intro version basically. If you wanna upgrade to the full version, now's a good time, it's 25% off and a free upgrade to Live 9 in a couple of weeks. You have unlimited tracks and scenes in Live, plus things like slice to midi, grooves etc. Basically your version is sort of given away with hardware as a taster, although you can make tunes on it. If you want synths and a multisampler then you need Suite. However you can get free synths if you are skint. A multisampler is mainly essential for things like pianos which have a big range and natural sound.
Ok, thank you so much for the help. I'll definitely be upgrading. Thank you all for the help.
