an idea for push

hey,
i like the way that the pitch layout means notes are duplicated across the pads.
sort of like a guitar, where different frets on different strings may produce the same pitch.
however, on guitar the different strings have a different quality of sound which can be used for effect.
wouldn't it be cool if on the push the different pads which have the same pitch could have a slightly different timbre?

not having a push in front of me, but i wonder if you could do this by listening to the raw midi input from the push (might need to do this in m4l, not sure), then sending the raw note values out through an iac bus, and using that to control synth parameter values, while still sending out the scaled pitch info...good idea!

That's a good idea, but unfortunately is impossible to do.
I mean that in guitar the same note on different strings sounds different. In a midi instrument no. The same c note will ever sound the same.
One workaround is to modify the tibre according to key position, or put a max random effect that would change the sound of the same note pressed twice.

lo.key has a good suggestion in the right direction.
For midi guitars, there are two factors at play.
The 'strings' are each on unique midi channels
It can set those to Mono Legato or similar, along with pitchbend options.
Just some food for thought

. I hope you come up with something!
Also, if you Were to use something to this nature, another option might be finger positioning in conjunction with note 'plucking' via the Scene Launch buttons.
