Hello,

I have a problem with midi....i just installed Live8 on my laptop and tried using it last night and came across a rather unusual problem. My midi controller (oxygen 8, which works flawlessly in another DAW on the same laptop) would not respond correctly. the midi idicator light would light up each time i touched any key or knob, but only random notes would play, and when they did they would just hold indefinitely. I also noticed that the qwerty keyboard was responding the same way when i would engage the keyboard for midi. I don't know why the qwerty keyboard would react that way, which is what seems to be the most crazy thing. Any thoughts?

What instrument are you playing? Do you have any fx? Is the CPU meter remaining low?

This sounds like a really weird situation, if it is none of those, then I have no clue.

i tried with various standard ableton pads/keys/synths. yes the cpu is remaining low....under 7%

Sounds pretty strange. Maybe try a fresh new set, but do it where you open Live with your midi keyboard unplugged, and try using only your qwerty keys.

Also, go into MIDI Preferences and turn EVERYTHING off.

If it persists, it sounds like a problem for Ableton technical support!

Oh, and I assume it plays normal clips like loops and audio in Session View normally without problems cutting out?

i tried what you recommended and the qwerty keys worked just fine... my driver is up to date on the oxygen 8. so i don't know what else to do

And then when you go in Preferences under the MIDI tab, and turn everything back on (except for sync), your keyboard still does not respond?

Do you make sure the keyboard is on before you open Live?

It doesn't show up in orange text in midi prefs, does it?
