USB keyboard issue

Hi everyone, not an ableton specific question as this happens in every daw I own (live 8, reason, reaper, sonar x2), but I like this board the best... So I have an m-audio O2 keyboard. Every time I open a new live set, add a midi track and instrument, arm the track I get no input.

The O2 is still recognized in the preferences. The way to fix it is to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in and the sometimes restart the app. This is the only keyboard that I own and all drivers are up to date.

I guess my question is that is this an expected behavior for a USB bus powered keyboard?

one possible cause is that Windows is sometimes truly stupid when you plug a USB device into different ports on your computer. have a look in your Device Manager and see if there are multiple entries for your keyboard listed. if so, delete them all, and choose a single port that you will always plug the keyboard into.

It's the only one listed.

One possible fix is that I just disabled the "USB selective suspend setting" under the power options. I'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the replies!

yes, the suspending thing powers down USB devices, which you don't want.
