Bad "Ableton Live Engine.dll" in 64 bit preventing Rewire?

Been trying to get the 64 bit Live 9 to work as a Rewire slave. Bottom line, loading Live 9 not only won't work as a rewire slave in Cubase 7/64 bit, but once loaded, it kills the rewire in Live 8. With a bit of help from another member of the Cubase forum I THINK we have tracked the problem to the "Ableton Live Engine.dll" file that Live 9 creates and then points to in the registry.
Logic behind my guess...
Wnder Wondows 7/64it, Cubase 7 64 bit is supposed to run the rewire device (.dll) files that at this registry location:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Propellerhead Software\ReWire]
With Live 9 64bit installed, you should see this associated registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Propellerhead Software\ReWire\Ableton Live Engine]
When expanded, you get:
"Device Path"="C:\\ProgramData\\Ableton\\Live 9 Standard\\Program\\Ableton Live Engine.dll"
If you install and run Live 8, the regestry entry changes to:
"Device Path"="C:\\ProgramData\\Ableton\\Live 8\\Program\\Ableton Live Engine.dll"
It appears (at least n my system) that Ableton 8 will Rewire slave to Cubase 7 ONLY IF the last version of Live opened was 8 (because it repoints the registry at the file in the Live 8 subdirectory.
But if you open 9, it readjusts the registry to point to the
ProgramData\ableton\live 9 standard\program\Ableton Live Engine.dll file. That .dll is apparently broken, won't allow Cubase to load it or open the necessary Rewire option in the Device Panel, and thereby prevents either from running under Rewire.
Now lets see how long it takes Ableton to fix it...

Please fix this. I have been waiting for Live 9 64 bit to work with Cubase 7 64 bit. I am disappointed that Rewire capability is now broken.

I often rewire ableton as slave to sonar x2, Rewire stil works for multiple audio to sonar,
But my biggest loss, making this particulars setup redundant,i normally use sonar as my midi sequencer, so i send individual midi tacks to each device/channel strip/track in live via multiple midi outputs and the feed it all back to soanr as multiple audio tracks, but ableton is no longer acepting midi in from my rewire master not even a single track, not that a single has much purpose anyhow,I really hope this is fixed or iam redundant,I dont suppose anyone else has mentioned this to ableton yet ?

I rewire all the time, so this would drive me nutz, Tis why one shouldn't buy beta versions the day they are available... so many bugs.. infested , all i see in the forum lately are bugs about 9...

Prudent to wait until the next update or later.

@Tintala: Point taken. I've had problems with the Cubase 7 update too. I'm actually a new Ableton user. Got it because several members of my group use it. Got 8 just a few weeks before 9 was released and it came with the upgrade. But what's so annoying here is that the Live8/64 rewire was working with Cubase (my main DAW). I'm a bit disappointed that Ableton would release 9 knowing such a crucial feature was broken. But your main point is correct. It seems these days that initial releases are always problematic. Better to wait till .1 or .2 versions become available.

Sure hope they get this taken care of...really soon.
Why they would ship an RTM product without promised functionality is a mystery to me.

Hi guys,
just seen this thread. I had the same problem, Live 9 rewire not working and also killing the rewire function in Live 8. Had to uninstall Live 9 to get the rewire back for Live 8. I am using it alongside Reaper. I emailed Ableton and got a response saying that the rewire function in 9 isn't working and they are working on a fix. They said they will email me when a fix is available.
Don't know if everyone knows this info?? I will post here when the email me.
Thanks.
