I am trying to find an m1 piano sound, but I am having a really hard time. I use Massive, ANA, Zebra2, and Live9 standard. I do not want to buy a new vst for this one sound. Can somebody please direct me to a sound design tutorial or a free vst that can at least get me close? Even a sample..

Really? I just typed "M1 piano" into Google and found a web page with some free samples in a matter of seconds...

use on of the KORG vsts.

The Korg M1 used a combination of samples and synthesis for its sounds. Massive and ANA are pure VA synths, and are not capable of reproducing most M1 sounds, including the piano.

OP you said you didn't want another plugin, but Lumix is right- The Korg M1 Legacy plugin really is your best bet. I would almost say it's better than having a real M1 because it comes with all the official sound expansions that were sold for that synth.

It's only $50 USD, and they just recently released 64-bit support for it as well.

+1 to the M1 Legacy. but if you're only looking for the M1 piano, it's also available in the M1 Le which is included when you buy the nano series or microkey 25/49. the price is nearly the same price as buying the M1 Legacy. You can also use the controller with current software, with many other included VSTs. In my opinion the microkey 61 with an entire Korg Legacy collection thrown in for free, represents one of the best deal around.

+2 for the M1 VST. Not only do you get the piano, you also get the classic organ bassline sound from every early 90's house track.

Probably the best value instrument I've bought in a way.

Seeing this, I just had a look at the Korg site.

There's a good deal on the full VST set, if you upgrade from the M1 LE software.

Buy a cheap Korg controller, register the M1 LE software, then upgrade to the set of full VSTs for $99.

Yep, the deal on the Korg site is excellent, I did exactly as you describe - bought a NanoKey and upgraded to the Legacy Collection for $99.

Korg released 64bit versions of the plugins on the same day that Live 9 was released and I can confirm that (on a Mac at least) these work great in 32 and 64bit Live 9.

I also have to put in a good word for the MonoPoly plugin at this point, it sounds excellent and uses hardly any CPU. Rob Lee has also done a really nice soundset for it.

The MonoPoly and M1 have better patch browsers than the other plugins in the range, allowing you to filter on patch type etc. This is needed with the M1 especially as it ships with all of the memory cards giving a total of around 3000 sounds.

Overall this is one of my favourite sets of plugins.

that's exactly what I did. got an unused license from a friend and did the upgrade. But there was no microkey 61 offer that time..otherwise I'd get that instead. It's almost like buying a Korg Legacy Collection with a free, portable keyboard thrown in.

I love AI synth and Wavestation since a long time ago and still own those aging hardware along with Monotribe and the Monotron series. I remember the days when collecting PCM and program Cards was a luxurious thing. So glad that all those rare cards are included in the Legacy Collection. The hardware and software version sounds a bit different..but love them all for their own goodness.

Now, if only the MS-20 mini can be used as the MS-20 Legacy controller as well

Although I haven't tried it yet I believe that iMS-20 (iPad version) can be used to control the MS-20 plugin which is not as cool as using the MS-20 Mini but it's a lot better than using the rather poor GUI of the MS-20 plugin.
