Live 9 Crashing VENT

Ok, I need to vent. I was perfectly happy with Live 8. My system runs perfectly with it.

I got the email for upgrading and basically felt the pressure to update because of the limited price discount.

Live 9 has a lot of really cool additions and I really want to use it. However, it is severely unstable on my system. I'm not going to go into what equipment I have etc because my system runs perfectly on 8. Therefore, I can only come to the conclusion that 9 is the problem:

Locks up randomly when creating a new midi or audio tracks.
Locks up randomly when deleting midi or audio tracks.
Crashes hard! if doing the above with audio running
CRASHES ALL TO HELL if you open a song from LIVE 8
CRASHES when trying to open a group from LIVE 8
Loses sync with ASIO
Midi connection to my Studio controller drops altogether. I've never seen this before with any software

I tried to solve some of the issues over the weekend but it's constant. There's too many bug reports to send.

I'm staring at a frozen LIVE 9 Session right now. It's just sitting there all frozen.

I guess I'll go back to 8 and wait for a serious update....

Give us some information on what your specs are.

Live or Suite?
Win or OSX?
Computer specs
What Live packs are you running?

Have you tried reinstalling?

it's probably a user error or your computer because MiNe has not frozen at all once.

Yeah, I'm seeing random crashes and instability too.

My advice: Just keep filing crash reports, use Live 8 for critical work / live performance, and keep an eye out for updates.

Live 9 will get more stable in time; we all know from bitter experience that Ableton's 'point' releases are rarely without issues. Like you I upgraded straight away to get the discount, but I knew I wouldn't be able to use it properly for a few months!

With this in mind.. I'll wait on 9 till its got a few points over zero and is actually stable, and useable. I have no inclination to Beta test software. It works or no cash for Abes.

I have no doubt that it will end up being very stable eventually but for now I will move back to 8 while watching for stability improvements.

Did you do a completely new install or install over a previous version?
Do you have the latest build for Max/Max for Live installed?
Have you submitted your crash logs and/or opened a support ticket?

That sounds like a unique situation - I have heard much in praise of 9's stability over 8, and very little of the reverse

Although by the same token, your stable 8 system may also have been contrary to prevailing wisdom and experience of the rest of the Live user base ;)

Mines not crashed once! It did lock up a few times when first installed packs, but that's all.

Hey, sorry for the frustration, but this forum isn't the best place to report crashes. Please send in all crash reports to crashes[at]ableton[dot]com. Additionally, please get in touch directly with Ableton Support about this, at http://ableton.com/support/contact

It's important to get in touch individually with support - due to individual configurations, it's likely that two users experiencing crashes are facing different reasons.
