Why don't you go check the packs out from your account and give them a listen to the samples there? Hearing is subjective so what I may like or dislike you may dislike or like. Best thing is to head over to your account and go to the Packs page and listen to them (not just 2 seconds, listen to their entirety so you have a better impression of them/what they are capable of.

Very disappointed that only two ethnic instruments were in this version; versus perhaps 10 in Live Suite 8 (looking under guitars/plucked).

And you aren't able to load them up into 9 from Live 8 library and save them in Live 9? If so, what's the issue? If not, then that kinda sucks. I was disappointed that they didn't explain in greater detail the difference for these orchestral instruments vs the EIC2 bundle/package. i.e. are they exactly the same or are the they same + more content/articulations? That was one of the things I really wanted to know for a Live 8 Suite to Live 9 Standard update and keep all my Live 8 instruments.

EIC2 was a small selection from the OIC. The OIC used to be a standalone library. Originally, it was sold for approximately US$600.
So, the short answer is OIC is the full package which has now been included with Live 9 Suite.
