Awesome, thanks! Can't wait to get home an try to enable this. What a HUGE feature, I wish they could have cleaned it up and included it in the first release.

It's not a "live 9 " anything, it's exactly the same in Live 8

Any chance of a step-by-step for Live 9.01?
Win7 x64
(I tried it in a way that made sense to me, but it didn't work
I made an Options.txt in Preferences folder, but it had no effect when I restarted Live ...
)..
\User\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 90.1\Preferences\Options.txt
Options.txt file has one line:
-ShowDeviceSlots

Also make sure to save the file as a .txt as TextEditor defaults to .rtf.

No such library at that location, at least on my computer ...
Ableton Library is at:
C:\Users\Chuck\Documents\Ableton\Library
But no "Preferences" file

^ i'm not at a computer with Live installed at the moment
wild guess... try here:
C:\Users\*user name*\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\...
i think this is a hidden folder.
you will need to click on Organize, Folder Options, View (tab), show hidden files and folders
the path that 3osc posted looks like it's on a Mac

It'd be better if it showed the user's custom names for devices rather than generic names. Still, a useful feature.

C:\Users\Chuck\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 9.0.1\Preferences
That's the folder where I put my Options.txt file.
In fact, there is a Preferences.cfg file in that folder, but I'm a little leery of opening it...

Whoops.... file path in Buleriachk's first post looked like it was for Mac. The "AppData" should have tipped me off
