Shortcuts no longer work with Live 9

I created a folder on my Mac desktop that contains shortcuts to every one of my Live project files. Within Live, I created a custom folder that links to that desktop folder that contains the shortcuts - this way, I can drag and drop to combine elements from different projects on the fly.
The issue I'm having with Live 9 is that if I need to jump to another project, with Live 7 (what I upgraded from), I would just double click the shortcut from my custom folder in Live and it would open the project. When I upgraded to 9, the custom folder within Live wouldn't even show those shortcuts files in the custom folder unless it had the .als extension on the shortcut file. So I added it to all of my shortcuts and then tried it again. Then Ableton gave me an error saying the file is corrupt?
Lastly, if I were to actually open my folder that contains all my shortcuts in Mac Finder, and click to open the shortcut from there, everything opened in Ableton properly so the shortcuts are not corrupt. It seems that only when I try to use the shortcuts while working within Live's interface and custom folder, it doesn't work. Anyone else have an issue/work-around like this?
