Hey guys, what are your favorite ways to warp the sounds of an extended song?

as a bonus question, what's your favorite/the best way to add bass?

Bit of a delayed response, but I add a low pass filter, press ctrl-g, add a channel pass-through, add some resonance Q to that low pass and then add some random reverb (100%), erosion (deep and wide enough that it isn't too "noisy"), maybe a bit of overdrive (5-10%) and set that channel/chain to about -15db.

First you have to figure out what key the track is in. To do this, I suggest forcing the track to play in a simple easy-to-play key. Like C major. Or, if you want to sound more edgy. Go for the A minor.

So we will load up 7 Resonator fx. And create a Rack with 7 EQ3's. set a Lo, Hi, and 5 additional finely set 'bands' of Mid. You can name them. Lo lo mid, lo mid, mid kinda, mid hi, hi and bye mid.

Set all the Resonators to A3 (IMPORTANT), and set the other dials to +12, +25, +7, and we are doing Minor right? So +3.

Chances are, the track will be in Stereo. To fix this, we will have all the Resonators filter off, and Width to 0% (I always make this mistake. It'll work for the bass though).

Okay, then we group the entire Rack again and duplicate inside. Slap Utility in each one. One says Left, panned hard left. Other Right, panned Right.

Now our song is A minor-ish.

Make a new midi channel.

Put Arpeggiator in and a phat Saw wave. And the M4L LFO, an AutoFilter, Saturator set to Sinoid Fold, Compressor with side chain to Lo of the other Rack, set to pump super hard, another Saturator, gain +3, Chorus at 50% wet, second modulation Off and first one high passed to about 18,000 to get some grit. Then add Limiter with +6 db.

Group that (make sure Arp is set to A minor! 1/6 notes). Then duplicate the channel and define the other saw 'slightly'.

Finally, set each one on their own cross fader channel. And play your keys while the song plays.

When it gets too crazy, hold the keys but crossfade out. And then wait for the Drop!!!

Another way to do this is just use an 808 bass drum. But to each his own, man.

if you use the 808 bass drum, how do you prolong the bass sound? I'm talking about the kind of bass in songs such as "timestretch" by bassnectar, a bass which draws out for several seconds
