All I want to do is have LIVE 3.04 tell my Triton to start

I am running into synchronization problems with my Korg Triton and LIVE 3.04.
XP / PC 1.4 w/512 MB Ram
LIVE 3.04
X-Session MIDI/USB controller (Out from this to IN on the Triton and I’ve got this controller hooked up to my computer via USB AND it’s powered by the comp via USB).
Delta 44 soundcard
I’m having hell right now configuring my MIDI setup between my Triton & LIVE (LIVE as master, Triton as slave) [simply… I want LIVE to send start messages to the Triton / midi clock]. I’ve got hardly any output latency, input latency I’m not really sure of at this time (don’t think I have much of this either), and the way my overall latency is configured (at -28 ms in LIVEs preferences) makes LIVEs metronome match up beautifully with the Tritons metronome.
BUT
When configured as such: I’m getting this weird, messed up first beat when trying to start the Triton from LIVE…….. The first beat always plays out of time, and I’ve played with my buffer in a variety of ways from all the way at the top at 2400 er so, and all the way to the bottom at 64…….. no matter what, the first beat from the Triton isn’t in time………..
To confuse things even more though: when I set the overall latency in LIVEs preferences to +100, guess what – LIVE correctly starts the Triton on time w/out any messed up 1st beat….. BUT, then the metronome from LIVE doesn’t match up with the Triton………. (ARGGGG)
I must let you know that the X-Session is being powered by the USB cable, because I don't have the X-session being powered through an AC adapter..... is this simply a weakness of the controller being powered through USB AND trying to send MIDI data through USB all simultaneously...?
I am NEW to midi..... if anyone has any idea what's going on here: I won't be able to thank you enough for helping me out.
THANK U,
Chr*s
