I'm all pre-ordered and shit.

I was able to preview a copy of this by creating a new playlist with ten or so randomly selected current Daft Punk songs.

Are they actually writing their own tunes now? Or still stealing shit from the 80s?

Sounds like they collaborated with some heavy hitters from the early analog synth days, in other words nobody that anybody who started producing in the last 5 to 10 years knows or respects.

That preview above sounded pretty good to my ears.

My only real problem with Daft Punk is over 50% of their albums is filler/goofy. But I guess even that could be seen as a tribute to old school album releases.

There was a release called Daft Punk Discovered that was the full version of each original song that Daft Punk sampled from. It's not exactly a well guarded secret.

There's a difference between sampling and stealing IMHO.

And it's probably safe to assume the difference can be tied to the length of the sample used and if it was just left as is for the most part. I have to admit when I heard Discovered I was a little shocked at how much Daft Punk took from other songs with close to no editing, but I didn't lose sleep over it. I'm not losing sleep over it though or thinking it's some great music injustice, especially when you consider what some DJs are getting paid to play other people's music like they are the God behind it all.

the middle 8 is interesting but Pharrel is way too loud in the mix. More talk box, less celebrities.
