There's a burgeoning market of guitar appz 'n goodiez but everything I've seen so far looks like a solution looking for a problem.
they made a gorillaz album on an ipad. it was more like "oh wow, they did this on an ipad" though. it wasn't amazing but if you like experimental stuff it's interesting. it's called The Fall.Styles Bitchly wrote:Not to slag the whole make-music-on-a-iPad thing, but has anyone actually done anything meaningful with one of these yet? The iPad isn't a computer? IOS isn't an operating system?delicioso wrote:I don’t use any computer aid."
Yes, I own an iPad, but quite honestly, it's gathering dust. I just find it too limiting and it can't compare obviously to a good laptop. I even thought that it would be a good alternative to a Kindle but that's not the case. I'm not into the whole "app" thing either. Another thing - the gadgets you have to buy to make an iPad work with a lot of the music apps I've seen are rather expensive and delicate....not really suitable for industrial strength "out in the field" usage either. Also, I hate being led around like a barnyard animal and I don't like the restrictive set of boundaries which Apple puts around all of it's stuff. I'll just stick with my laptops which are robust and a known proven commodity - besides, you can almost get one for the same cost of an iPad these days.DJjoeB wrote:I dont know actually i know that paper diamond uses touch osc but thats only to control live. ok but i think you are wrong here (not to be a jerk) but the ipad and a laptop are both completely different things where as the ipad can be limiting "sometimes" not always though, like it is said before there are many great apps like animoog and orphion and as long as you have an external sound card or mixing board you can record the ipad right into your D.A.W. with a 1/4th to 1/8th jack which is what i primarily do and the only gadget that i have bought is the ipad camera connection kit to connect my mini midi keyboard to my ipad which is more fun than anything. Hope this changed your mind a little and you should try out orphion which i think is free unless you want to make your own layout and if you start liking it get animoog which is i believe $19.99.Styles Bitchly wrote:Yes, I own an iPad, but quite honestly, it's gathering dust.
