Maxforlive 64bit, am I forced to upgrade?

Am I forced to upgrade, to use maxforlive 64bit?
Max 6.1 is the first version of Max that is 64-bit. Live 9 is the only version that is compatible with Max 6.1.
It was a lot of work for the Cycling '74 folks to get 64-bit going in Max and there are still some things in Jitter that won't work in 64-bit for a while, but they're working on it.
