Ableton Forum

Hello everyone im Lawrence, im 16 yold and im trying to make into the production of electro music.
So basically im zero at everything, the only thing i have atm is ableton 9 suite, thanks to my dad, im willing to start from the bottom and try make my personal music. Ive tried searching on the web for helps, tutorials, and stuffs that will help me, but as i said i don't know how to make something "work" with ableton.
Im asking you guys some help, on like "what should i learn first?", are there any online course free or not that will help me start something serious?

just for info, the djs inspiring me are Hardwell, Bingo Players, Kaskade, Nicky Romero, Avicii, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5 etc.. etc..ù

I think i wont be related to any type of music, because i would like to have my "style".

PS: Sorry english is my 2nd language, so im learning, even there.

Go through the Live lessons to learn how to get around in Live itself before moving on is my first suggestion. Second would be learning Live's devices/instruments (and read the manual/PDF/online help). Third would be to look at the Live videos/tutorials over at youtube for a lot of good to great info. There are some specific Ableton Live channels there to subscribe to if you feel like it.

I live in Italy, but i speak fluent english with voice2voice programs (skype, teamspeak)

I wouldn't go too mad with loads of tutorials right away. The first few built in ones should be enough to get started. Basically finding your way around the software, programming/recording drums and synths, etc.

Once you've done that, I'd just spend some time messing around with it. Create a simple drum pattern, add a bass line and some noises and see what happens. You have enough preset sounds and effect settings to not have to worry about knowing how everything works.

Concentrate on making music (even if it's a bit shit), and learn live as you go along.

The early days of throwing stuff together without worrying too much about it sounding professional are good fun. Enjoy it for now, worry about doing things right later.

I went to the University of Amsterdam and i follow 1 1/2 year of Electronic Music Production I II including Ableton.

I would also try and sweet talk dad to get some type of a USB controller. Launchpad is a good place to start and they are going pretty cheap on eBay since Novation is about to release the Launchpad S.
