hacking the .adg file format for ableton presets, NI to PUSH

Post by queglay » Sat Apr 20, 2013 5:31 am

I'm wondering if anyone has explored this. it would mean that we could potentially batch convert presets from things like massive into the ableton presets and get them available to push's library. This would be nice, and we wouldn't have to rely on something like maschine to browse these presets from anyone of our vsts if we did it right.

I tried saving two different massive presets in an instrument rack to .adg files and did a diff with a hex editor.
there are some consistencies in the file, but i have no idea how to make the data meaningful. hex fiend on osx found a list of about 700 differences.

Any clues or direction would be cool. synalize it for mac osx looks useful, although it allows to create grammar templates, i have no idea how to make the data meaningful.

Battery to drum rack would be killer, too.

Old thread, but I got interested in doing this for similar reasons. I have a lot of presets across a lot of VST's that I'd like to consolidate as instruments in my user library.

I was able to open a .adg file by replacing its extension with .zip and opening in winrar. It then contained another file inside of it that i was able to open in a text editor, and lo and behold it was XML :)

So basically as of this date on Ableton Live 10 .adg files are zipped up XML files.
