Midi timing problem w/ Live 4.1.2 rewired into MaxMSP 4.5.4

The midi timing of notes send to MaxMSP through ReWire is sluggish compared to notes triggered directly in Live. For testing, I used the Oddity
VSTi loaded in Live and in MaxMSP. Is this caused by a bug, or could I
be doing something wrong?

I've tried using different ASIO buffer sizes (128, 512, 1024) but that doesn't
seem to make a difference. I tried various MaxMSP signal vector sizes (32, 128, 512, 1024) but that doesn't help either.

Here's my setup:

P4 3.4Ghz
Gigabyte 8KNXP
WinXP pro sp2
MOTU 828 mkii (driver 3.5.3.2)
Live 4.1.2
MaxMSP 4.5.4

Thanks.

Mabye I should give a few more details. Live is running as ReWire master and
MaxMSP as ReWire slave. MIDI notes are being sent to MaxMSP to trigger the VSTi Oddity synth. The resulting audio is sent back to Live to be output.

When I say that the timing is sluggish, I mean the timing of the notes is not accurate. I'm not talking about timing latency, just to be clear. Has anyone experienced this? I wish I had another ReWire host/master program so I could determine whether the problem lies with Live or MaxMSP, but I don't.

Problem solved. It turns out that I needed to lower the I/O vector size (not the signal vector size) in MaxMSP. How stupid of me. Sorry to waste space/time/resources.

don't worry! i'll probably refer to this thread in the future if i run into the same problem... i'll eventually be using max/msp with live...
