Audio dropouts

Post by Bosskitty » Fri Apr 29, 2005 10:08 am

Hi,
im using a version of Live Lite that came with an M-Audio Audiophile 2496PCI, to record a stereo track (no other multitracking) into Ableton via S/PDIF, i have both the buffers on the The Audiophile & the I/P & O/P buffers in Ableton set to its highest (im not concerned with latency)yet Audio dropoutS occur throughout the recording:(
Can anybody help:!>>?

How are you clocking your digital connection?
I beleive that only one device in a spdif chain should send clock signals and one should receive (recording device?)
This could be your problem, not sure though.

What OS you using? because back when "dropouts" was my "woe"

Post by Jbo » Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:47 pm

My Os happens to be the commonest of all ,for universal acceptance type reasons...as far as any "reasons I "chose" xpbut THAT IS REALLY NEITHER
HERE nor there, isn't it?..............or izzit?

If you are using xp make certain you are up to date... well at least sp1 ABSOLUTELY SAVED THE DAY
back WHEN I WAS HAVING DROPOUTS..(install service pack 1 and stop dropouts immediately)
@XP+SP1=AOK=(no more dropouts)

Sorry, if you are like, using a "Mac"

but , best of luck in any event, to you

maybe someday i can be "using a Mac" also, and driving an excaliber too maybe... and even voting republican.. but thats too hard for me to really envision except just as a like a concept or something ,not really real.and there's more, hopefully, but thats not what you asked about is it? sorry, my dreams do tend to "get in the way" on occasion

Have you ever heard of total recorder?

I am certainly not hip to your process you are doing or trying to do or nothin'...so far, but Just off'n the wall-like I know of this little jewel of a free program which makes dandy .wav recordings in stereo... very simple and all....

its called Total Recorder... and I think its very cool to think of the mere fact that its free... Perhaps you will find it a novelversion for some application not needing to elaborateness of live or anything so complex... i will see if i can "get" what you're tryin for or if I know what the componenets do that you are trying to hook up i think that was my boggle i didn't recognize the uh.. functionality of your component..........

i would agree with the sending one source and one only theory.... unless an outlandish, wild trainwreck is what you are after? din think so.. but anyway as i sed i agree.. only one source is obviously needed for any music thing whatever it is on or at .. but here should be no stipulations whatsoever as to how many receivers or slaves might take the cue from that same clock.... that just sensible ain't it? yes, it "aiizz

ask at these places;

Thanks for ur help,the problem is not w/ the clocking!!!Ive used a free programme called Kristal,& the audio drop-out problem doesnt happen with that! Thing is, Kristal is not what i want to use, Ableton is easier to use for editing & exporting.

This has been goin on for over a week,I really wish someone from Ableton support would help out if theyre reading this!!!

not a prob

Post by Jbo » Fri May 06, 2005 8:03 pm

no worries I just wish i could learn all the quirks with windows and every other factor (lotsa luck) pertaining to effective communication with these type restraints

i find that i usually have to log on every time I return to a forum and turn off my firewall etc

problems with compatiblity is my decided culprit I blame most of my problems on , oh and spyware makes it all sort of fit together in the incoherent way it doesn't fit together at all
As I said, read the required stuff ...you will do it eventually, just before your success, why not get it over with sooner ,rather than later, somewhere in the words of misunderstanding with some considerable amount of trial & error also factored in... there is your answer.. unless you discover a better solution to reach the same end result first ....
