White noise from certain tracks

Hi there,

I have a strange problem..all my heavier projects tend to play white noise from one or two tracks. The noise follows the waveform of the track (which makes it even weirder). I have to reboot a couple of times for those projects to play properly. Changing the audio settings does nothing to help the matter.

Anyone else experience this?

hey sweet,

i experience all sorts of wierdness in large projects, including what you are talking about, but it doesnt come out in my renderings, and it happens only every so often.

i also have a problem with clips getting wierd clicks in them on large projects, and i have to delete the clip and make a new one from scratch.

is it an lfo noise? cos i sometimes get this noise with reaktor but once i play a key ,the noise goes so i use a gate on the output .

Nope I make everything by recording audio straight into Live.

The only thing I use close to softsynths are impule and simpler because I found Live had MAJOR issues with CPU cycles shooting over 100% when they were meant to be in fact 30% etc.. whenever I used softsynths...

so now this stuff is all pure hardware. I load almost everything into RAM and yeah get this crazy problem.

As I said the weirdest thing is the the fact that the noise follows the envelope of the sound that is meant to be playing in that track.

I would wonder if a bad VST/AU is the cause. Can you pull 'em all out and see if it makes any difference?

I appreciate that you may be using all audio tracks, but in your position, thats the kind of voo... voo... voodoo technique I'd try, just to see if it makes any difference.

Hi sweet, not to be pedantic, do you have any 3rd party plugins being scanned by Live on bootup even if you're not using 'em in your projects? I'd pull THEM out temporarily, just to eliminate that possibility. (my personal flail-in-the-darkness-suck-it-and-see technique  )

'pologies if you've already tried this...

no need to be sorry, trying that now.. I will also pluck some chickens and make a pentagram out of their feathers and dance while the chicken impales itself on a toothpick in my own voodoo technique.

PitchBlacK:

Thank you my kiwi friend! Seems to have made a difference...

Lets us hope that the spirite of the white noise does not come back.

FYI, I only tried your suggestions, no chickens were harmed during the fixing of this problem.
