I need bass...

Just a short seek of advice...and to the point... where can I get a variety of bass sounds.. let it be instrument, sampler etc...

I have pretty much everything else and allot of it.. but not enough bass

Few people told me to just go with Trilogy... but I dont like the fact you cant sample sounds in it... what you you have is what you get.. I did hear it does have some great patches to work with...but is it worth $350?

What would be your choice for bass?

Thanks...

what OS are you using?...

there are plenty of good Freebies out there to give you what you need, after that its usually just EQ/Limiting/Compression to get the sound you want.

on MacOS i recommend Rumblence Zoyd from www.u-he.com, its free.
on Windows, the GMedia Oddity is a good option (available for mac as well)
and of course Operator is capable of some serious bass sounds.

I would get some kind of analogue synth in that price range.

Digital or sampled bass is just not the same...

Maybe an SH101 or an MC202, or perhaps a Juno..

you're just going to wash it with digital fx and dynamics anyway yes?

perhaps someone should make a plugin that adds line noise and random detuning that gives everyone that "analogue" sound they desire.

Thats what I was thinking....

But the only reason why I am looking at Trilogy, is cause it is very cpu friendly...

Then again it would be awesome to have a good sampler meant for bass... for example detuning it, distort the fuck out of it,(within the plugin) make it have that "analague" sound.

I just want to have a flexible sound when I want too and dont

Works great layered under other stuff.

as mentioned the operator can make great basses. The gmedia stuff also
delivers. I`ve had pretty good results with the ImpOSCar.

GAH! please holmes.... It's not just the sound, it's also the control. In fact, it's more the control. (and yes, I understand that you can use a midi controller, but it ain't the same.)

add pseudoanalogue per Sweet Jesus

How 'bout using PSP MixBass. Give it a try on some of your Operator bass presets--they fatten right up.

Random stuff does not an analogue make.

I have Trilogy, I have an Andromeda and an SH-101 and used to have a Juno and still use a digital synth (JP-8000).

I never touch trilogy anymore, it just sux in a mix. Doesn't have that punch which a real synth can give you. I used to think it's great, but really it's not.

And if you are not going to go with software, then from the choice of hardware and digital synths, for bass I would almost always pick the analogue stuff.

Analogue sounds have a certain tone to them which works really well in the lower frequencies.

I personally never run sounds I get from my analogue stuff through any effects which seriously color the sound. Maybe a compressor, unless I am purposely trying to make it feel digital.

So back to my point, a cheaper analogue synth will yield some amazing results once you learn how to get every sound possible out of it.

Gmedia's Minimonsta probably has some of the best sounding bass tones I have heard from a softsynth.

yea I've been able to get some sick bass sounds from the operator .

imo, the source is irrevelant , it's all about the dynamics.
