How Do I assign to my MIDI foot controller a delete command?

I want to do improve live looping, and I would like to know how I can assign my foot controller to Arm, Record, Stop and Delete.

I would like it to ARM and RECORD at the same time, so I don't have to assign two foot switchs for these two functions. And I would like to delete a clip, if I don't like the way it sounds.

why not just arm a track and leave it armed? I do that all the time, arm all the tracks I need before starting out. This will save you from double taps when you want to record.

Cool, Good idea. I can only leave it armed if I'm using foot pedals, So I thought it was a glitch in the system.

I was thinking about using ControlAid to do more complicated Midi mapping and also to be able to delete clips if I don't like them using the foot controller.

However, this would totally change my pedal setup.

Right now I have:
Bank1: patch1 = record clip1, Track1 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch2 = record clip2, Track2 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch3 = record clip3, Track3 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch4 = record clip4, Track4 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch5 = record clip5, Track5 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch6 = arm clip1, Track1 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch7 = arm clip2, Track2 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch8 = arm clip3, Track3 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch9 = arm clip4, Track4 vol, Master vol,
Bank1: patch0 = arm clip5, Track5 vol, Master vol,

But with Control Aid my set up would be:
Bank1: Patch1-0 = select track1, arm, play, stop, record, track1 vol, master vol,
Bank2: Patch1-0 = select track2, arm, play, stop, record, track2 vol, master vol,
Bank3: Patch1-0 = select track3, arm, play, stop, record, track3 vol, master vol,
Bank4: Patch1-0 = select track4, arm, play, stop, record, track4 vol, master vol,
Bank5: Patch1-0 = select track5, arm, play, stop, record, track5 vol, master vol,
Bank6: Patch1-0 = select track6, arm, play, stop, record, track6 vol, master vol,
Bank7: Patch1-0 = select track7, arm, play, stop, record, track7 vol, master vol,
Bank8: Patch1-0 = select track8, arm, play, stop, record, track8 vol, master vol,
Bank9: Patch1-0 = select track9, arm, play, stop, record, track9 vol, master vol,


What setups are people using for Onstage performance? I'd love to share.

I just set up a footcontroller as follows:

1: select/arm track (pressing again toggles arm on that track).
2: trigger clip (within selected scene) to toggle recording
3: stop clip.
4: same as 1 for track 2
5: same as 1 for track 2
6: same as 1 for track 2
7: next scene
8: prev scene
9: launch scene
10: stop clips

I have a couple of banks set up like this, so I can control four tracks which seems to be enough for my needs. One weird thing is, although I have arm exclusive set in prefs, this does not seem to apply when arming with MIDI commands.

Wooow, I wish I knew how to do that with my Behringer FCB1010...... any tips for the in-house newb? Like how you mapped Steps 2 - 9?

Are you on a mac--then control aid and midipipe can help you achieve a "delete" foot patch, but it seems uber complicated. On pc, midi ox/yoke and bomes midi translator make it possible, both are free. Many threads on these and how to use the here, search the forums. As for fcb 1010 setup--I have one bank of ten patches set up as follows:

1--start recording track 1, clip1 (hit it again to stop/loop recording)
6--arm track 1 for recording/monitoring (toggles)
2/7--same as above but for track 2 in Live
3/8--same as above but for track 3
4/8--same but for track 4
5--stat recording track5, clip 1
10--acts as my delete key, routed through bomes using midi/ox

As you might have guessed, I make live loops from scratch, so other setups may very. Depending on the gig, don't forget that for complicated manuevers, some quick mousing around is often the easiest solution. And don't use the trackpad, get a nice cordless usb mouse that you can easily use with your left hand--saves mucho wasted time vs. a trackpad.
